Andrea Pring is an Irish-born (English-raised) writer/poet. She has an MA with Distinction in Creative Writing from Manchester Metropolitan University and is currently working on a Creative Writing PhD. Her critical and creative work examines themes of illness and disability in children’s Gothic fiction. She is also interested in the monstrous and ecomonstrous aspects of Posthuman Gothic and the ways they can be subverted.
Andrea is founder of the online writing community Virtual Writers, an organisation that works virtually with creatives (particularly those disabled and homebound) and is committed to showcasing writers in a range of interactive and immersive environments. Virtual Writers hosts various online events, including daily sprints, writing challenges, workshops, festivals, and author promotion, and offers a friendly, supportive environment in which to learn and grow.
Andrea has published non-fiction articles, short stories, greetings cards, and poetry. She is currently writing a YA Gothic sci-fi, polishing several picture book texts, and finalising a middle grade magical realism novel and a spooky YA. She seeks literary representation and is happy to discuss her work with any UK-based agencies (particularly those interested in promoting disabled voices).
Andrea lives in the wilds of Dartmoor, with a long-suffering husband and two very silly cats. When she’s not writing, she enjoys crafting, photography, music, and nature.
